CHICO & THE GYPSIES TO RELEASE THE CLASSIC ‘SWAY’
CHICO & THE GYPSIES, legends in their native France and multi-platinum recording artists around the world, will release their new single ‘Sway’ on October 2nd 2015.
Chico & The Gypsies recorded their version of the song - made famous by Rat Pack star Dean Martin in 1954 - in Marseilles with top producer Nick Patrick, who recently produced the new Elvis Presley orchestral album ‘If I Can Dream’.
The release of Sway will coincide with Chico & The Gypsies’ seven-date UK tour, which begins at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on Friday, 16th October, and includes further dates in Scunthorpe (17th), Cambridge (18th), Birmingham (20th), Guildford (21st), Salisbury (22nd), and London (23rd).
The band’s return to the UK follows the success of their sold-out show at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in November 2014.
Chico Bouchikhi, co-founder of The Gipsy Kings and co-writer of their biggest hits Djobi Djoba, Bamboléo and Soy said, “I was so happy to be back in London after being away for twenty-five years. The audience were just wonderful; it was a real Fiesta night. After the amazing reaction and support, we are all looking forward to touring the UK. It will be exciting for all of us visiting different parts of the UK. and playing our Fiesta Gypsy Music for all to enjoy.”
Chico has built a phenomenal worldwide audience of millions of music fans from his native France to Japan via Dubaï; the band’s infectious brand of rumba, flamenco and Latin pop and rock tunes is joyful, flamboyant and hugely entertaining.
The architect of the Gipsy Kings’ success, Chico saw them become the first French group to be awarded a platinum disc in the US and go on to sell an estimated 20 million albums, making them the biggest world music crossover act.
