NEW SINGLE FROM LISBEE STAINTON TO PRECEDE UK TOUR DATES WITH SETH LAKEMAN

On 3 rd September 2012, Lisbee Stainton releases her new single ‘There You Are’, the third single from her latest critically acclaimed album ‘Go’.

The release of ‘There You Are’ is the latest milestone in an extremely busy year that has seen the London-based singer-songwriter’s complete 23 intimate ‘Living Room’ concerts - including a date aboard the nuclear submarine HMS Vigilant – a UK tour with Gretchen Peters, European tour dates with Seth Lakeman, national airplay and press features, plus a live session and interview for Radio 2’s Bob Harris show.

In addition, ‘There You Are’ precedes a soon-to-be-announced headline UK tour and further dates with Seth Lakeman.

Of the single itself, Lisbee said, “‘There You Are’ is about following your heart, not your head; when you allow yourself to give your heart to someone whilst ignoring all the logical voices in your head telling you not to do it.”

Having already been playlisted several times by BBC Radio 2 and featured on the station’s coveted ‘In Concert’ series, Lisbee has spent much of the past two years touring the UK and mainland Europe with the likes of Joan Armatrading and Paul Carrack (the latter describing Lisbee as the new Joni Mitchell), as well as completing a 40-date European tour of her own.

BIOGRAPHY

Looking to build on the huge critical success of her 2009 album, ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’, folk-pop’s rising star Lisbee Stainton returned from touring the world to release her third album, ‘Go’ towards the end of 2011.

When Lisbee released her previous album ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’ it announced the arrival of a serious songwriting talent. Having been championed by BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, two singles from the album, ‘Red’ and ‘Never Quite An Angel’, were playlisted by BBC Radio 2, while a third single ‘Just Like Me’ was voted ‘Record of The Week’ on BBC 6Music’s Radcliffe & Maconie Show. ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’ subsequently received a barrage of critical acclaim from the UK’s national and music press.

This success brought the 23-year-old London-based singer-songwriter to the attention of Joan Armatrading, who personally chose Lisbee to be the main support act for her extensive tour of the UK and mainland Europe. The title track of Lisbee’s new album was written as a pep-talk to herself before the tour started, where, armed with her custom built 8-string guitar, Lisbee played 73-dates throughout the summer of 2010 - including a sold-out home-town concert at The Royal Albert Hall.

Shortly afterwards, Lisbee was a featured artist on BBC Radio 2’s prestigious ‘In Concert’ series, before embarking on a forty-four-date headline European tour, which was quickly followed by dates supporting Belgian star Tom Dice and The Maverick’s Raul Malo, who personally invited Lisbee to join him onstage for a duet.

Of Lisbee’s latest album ‘Go’, which also garnered widespread critical acclaim for the UK’s national press, Lisbee said, “At the end of spending most of 2010 on tour and when I sat down to write those songs, it became apparent very quickly that a lot of my experiences within the last 18 months were going to play a big part in moulding the album and they gave me a real sense of direction in terms of the songwriting, hence the title, 'Go'. Working on that album has been my favourite project that I've done so far.”

The first single taken from the album, ‘Wrench’, was released in August 2011 and was described by The Daily Mirror’s Gavin Martin as, “A tantalising glimpse of the new music Lisbee has been developing...”

Indeed. While the songs on ‘Go’ contain the well-trodden path of love & relationships (‘There You Are’, ‘The Author’ and ‘Millions of Flowers’) , Lisbee also deals with subjects such as self-doubt (‘We Don't Believe In Monsters’), lackadaisicalness (‘Unsung’) and, ‘Find Me Here’, which, as Lisbee explains is “the tale of a man who loves someone so much he finds himself committing suicide off a bridge for her,” adding, “Yeah, sorry, it's a bit dark!”

‘Sleepwalker’ is a vignette about a person who becomes a different character every night, forming a separate life only they know of. Meanwhile, while one of the album’s stand-out tracks ‘The Archives’, draws inspiration from the Max Arthur book 'Forgotten Voices', which was created from the Imperial War Museum sound archive containing thousands of recordings of people who witnessed events in WWII.

‘Go’ closes with the track ‘Follow, which has been a live favourite for the past couple of years. Achingly beautiful, the song is, in Lisbee’s words, “probably about trust”, and is all the more remarkable for the fact it was written when Lisbee was just 15-years old.

As the finishing touches were being put to ‘Go’ in the Spring of 2011, Paul Carrack invited Lisbee to be the main support act for his tour of mainland Europe, describing her as “the new Joni Mitchell”.

2012 has seen Lisbee continue her upward trajectory, with a UK tour throughout March & April supporting Gretchen Peters and, in May, European tour dates supporting Seth Lakeman.

Lisbee’s forthcoming new single, ’There You Are’, is scheduled for release in September, and precedes UK tour dates with Seth Lakeman and Lisbee’s own headline tour of the UK.

With her reputation continuing to grow, few would bet against Lisbee Stainton realising the potential as one of the most exciting songwriting talents in the UK
