IRISH STARS PICTUREHOUSE COMEBACK ALBUM SET FOR UK RELEASE

Evolution, the new album from Irish stars PictureHouse will receive a UK release on 4th August 2014 on Cherry Red Records. Remastered and remixed from the Irish release, Evolution features the singles ‘Hello’ and ‘Rules of Science’ which have both received extensive support from BBC Radio 2.

One of Ireland's best kept secrets, PictureHouse recently reformed after a ten year break. During the ‘90s and early 2000s PictureHouse had great success touring with the likes of The Corrs, Meatloaf, The Saw Doctors, Marillion, Runrig, Mel C and Bon Jovi, building up a huge fanbase. During this time, PictureHouse released three studio albums; Shine Box (1996), Karmarama (1998) and Madness, Sadness, Gladness (2003), alive album and a singles collection which included the huge summer hit "Sunburst", which was the most played song on Irish radio in 1999.

Having reunited in 2012, PictureHouse released Evolution in Ireland in 2013 to widespread critical acclaim, and in February 2014 the band decided to independently release the album’s track ‘Rules Of Science’ as single in the UK. The single was playlisted for five weeks by BBC Radio 2, leading to the band being signed by UK label Cherry Red Records. In addition, in April the band was invited to performed ‘Sunburst’ on the finale of the Irish version of The Voice in a segment referred to as “four of Ireland's best ever bands playing four of Ireland's greatest songs”.

Recorded in Sweden and Dublin with long-time PictureHouse collaborators Adam Kviman and Pete Glenister, Evolution features five songs (‘Hello’, ‘Rules of Science’, ‘We Could Be Stars’, ‘Something Worth Saving’ and ‘Only Ourselves That Can Save Us’) co-written by Lasse Anderson, son of ABBA's Stig Anderson and writer of many European hits, including Emelia's Big Big World.

Starting with the pop chimes of ‘Some Night She Will Be Mine’ (currently being played on high rotation on Irish radio) and ending with the beautiful pipes and whistles of ‘Our Inner Voices’ (featuring Frankie Gavin of De Dennan), PictureHouse’s new album is an evolution from the band’s past to the band’s present. Evolution, and most notably the song ‘I Am Lightnin
g’, finds the band’s lead vocalist and songwriter Dave Browne at his most positive, citing that "there's nowhere you can be that's better than where you are now", a theme that strikes throughout the record.

During recording, a track surfaced that was written twenty years ago with Graham Lyle, co-writer of Tina Turner's ‘What's Love Got To Do With It’, and headhunted by the Beatles to write for the ill-fated Apple Corp project in the late 60's. ‘Papers In The Park’ was the result, and the final piece of the album’s puzzle.

Evolution is now issued for the first time outside of Ireland, with four live bonus tracks, new artwork and remastered sound quality. The band are about to release a follow-up single to ‘Rules of Science’, a new version of ‘Hello’, which has already received further airplay from BBC Radio 2.
