THE UNION ANNOUNCE UK TOUR, NEW SINGLE AND LIVE DVD

Following the release of their highly acclaimed new album, ‘The World Is Yours’, award-winning rock band The Union have announced plans for their second UK tour of 2013, a live DVD and a single called ‘Tonight I’m Alive’.

The promo video for 'Tonight I'm Alive' was directed by acclaimed photographer Jason Joyce and is due for release later this year. It features British actress Emma Rigby, who starred in the BBC drama 'Prisoner's Wives' and won several awards for her portrayal of Hannah in 'Hollyoaks'. The Union’s lead singer Peter Shoulder said, “The video is quite unlike anything we've done before. There’s a twist at the end of it, but you’ll have to watch it find out what that is!” (Click here to see the video: http://youtu.be/Rv9r7hlyVv0)

Speaking of their special guest’s appearance in the video, The Union’s guitarist, Luke Morley, said, “We were delighted Emma was up for being in the video. My wife worked with Emma on 'Prisoner's Wives' and, when it turned out Emma was a fan of our last album, she was the natural person to ask.'

Morley added, “Pete and I are barely in the video - which isn't a bad thing!”.

In what’s already been a busy year for The Union, with Morley having just completed a series of arena dates with his other band Thunder, and Pete Shoulder recording a solo album, fans can also look forward to the release of band’s first stand-alone live DVD, ‘Live At the Guildhall’.

Recorded at a special one-off show at Derby Guildhall in June, the DVD is released on September 16th and will feature the band’s electric and acoustic sets performed on the night. (Click here to see the DVD’s trailer: http://youtu.be/RQpwLzDbK_Q)

The Union’s newly announced tour dates takes in eight venues across the UK, starting at Sheffield Corporation on November 4th and ending at London’s O2 Academy in Islington on November 13th. Morley said, “Our tour earlier this year was by far our most successful to date, and this prompted us to arrange another outing to meet the demand.”

Notes to editor:

· The Union was formed by guitarist Luke Morley and vocalist/guitarist Peter Shoulder in 2009. Peter Shoulder was the vocalist, songwriter and musical rudder of Winterville. In 2006 he won The W.C Handy Blues Foundation award, presented to him in Memphis for co-writing the American Blues Song of the Year, ‘Think of Me’. The song was performed by blues legend Little Milton. At the time of winning, there were only two other British artists to have received that particular award, the others being Eric Clapton and Peter Green. Luke also continues to perform with Thunder, the band he co-founded in 1989.

· The Union’s eponymous debut album was released in August 2010 to acclaim from  both fans and the critics, and saw the band end the year on a high when they were voted ‘Best New Band’ at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards, where they celebrated in style by performing live to a hall packed with rock royalty.

· The release of ‘The World Is Yours’ comes hot on the heels of The Union’s last album, ‘Siren’s Song’, receiving a nomination for ‘Album Of The Year’ at Classic Rock Magazine’s 2012 ‘Roll of Honour Awards’.

· The band’s highly acclaimed third album, ‘The World Is Yours’ , was released on 4th March 2013. The band subsequently completed their most successful UK tour to-date.

· The Union are regarded as one of the finest rock bands in the UK today.
