The drummer from the Walker Brothers would seem to be the brother least likely to deliver a masterpiece. However, ALBUM No. 1 was full of tough Who-inspired psychedelic pop, as Gary Walker put together a crack band around him in 1968.
It was only released in Japan and is a legendarily rare and expensive album to acquire. This is the first time it has been officially released on CD in the UK, and includes the extremely rare single ‘Gary’s Theme’ as a bonus track.
ALBUM No. 1 is purportedly the first album to ever be recorded in 3D and, perhaps not surprisingly, comes into full effect when listened to through headphones.
