DEBUT SINGLE FROM HOTLY TIPPED LEEDS BAND THE DUNWELLS

The Dunwells magical rise from the pubs of Leeds to an American record deal and a stunning debut album in just two short years continues with the release of debut single, ‘I Could Be A King’, on November 21st.

A regal, roots-rocker, ‘I Could Be A King’ is taken from The Dunwells’ forthcoming debut album, ‘Blind Sighted Faith’, a timeless yet contemporary collection of 11 captivating and indelible numbers which strikes an organic blend between acoustic and electric roots music, laced by luscious five-part vocal harmonies.

With a line-up consisting of brothers Joe & David Dunwell (guitars, keyboards and vocals), cousins Rob Clayton and Jonny Lamb (bass & drums) and their life-long friend Dave Hanson (lead guitar), The Dunwells spent 2010 touring Britain and Europe, playing festivals such as Hop Farm (with Bob Dylan and Van Morrison), Edinburgh’s cutting-edge Fringe fest, Triumph Live (with Mumford & Sons) and the Fete De La Musique in Paris.

However, it was the band’s appearance at the International Folk Alliance conference in Memphis in February 2011 that really got the ball rolling. No Depression magazine reported: “People were buzzing about them and the music business folks in attendance were all clamouring for a chance to work with them.”

Respected American label Playing In Traffic Records won out, and four months later The Dunwells were recording at Willie Nelson’s famed Pedernales Studio in the Texas Hill Country, just outside Austin.

In an all but destined alignment, ‘Blind Sighted Faith’ was produced by John Porter (Roxy Music, The Smiths, B.B. King, Ryan Adams and Los Lonely Boys), who also hails from Leeds. With nine Grammy winning albums to his credit, Porter proved to be the ideal collaborator to help bring the artistic richness within The Dunwells to fruition.

Now, with the recording of ‘Blind Sighted Faith’ under their belts and scheduled for release in February 2012, The Dunwells are primed to take their music as far and wide as they can. And one can hear the solidarity in the music they create together. “We’re all in it for the same reason,” concludes David Dunwell. “We just love making music.”
